- I have been a poet laureate, a lifelong traveler, mother and grandmother. I fainted at the feet of the Venus di Milo. I am influenced by natural beauty and find the magic in very simple things. I learned how to cook after 50 (no small magic!) When I was 61, I learned to swim.
